FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Will insurance pay for my session(s)?If you are concerned about how much counseling will cost, you might try thinking about counseling as an investment in you. Counseling asks something of you: time, energy, hard work, and yes, some money. Despite the cost, most clients find that it is well worth the time, energy, and money they put into it. Sage Creek Counseling wants to make therapy affordable for you. We offer competitive self-pay rates, and we provide in-network billing to clients with Medical Mutual and out-of-network billing to clients with other insurance coverage who wish to use their out-of-network benefits. Self-pay clients may request a superbill, which clients can submit to insurance if they choose.

What can I expect?First sessions are about getting to know you, who you are and what brings you to therapy. We also talk about practice policies and what to expect in counseling. The intake process typically last 1-2 sessions and involves gathering a lot of information about what matters to you, how you grew up, and what issues or concerns are bringing you to counseling. Part of the intake process is talking about your goals for treatment, in other words what do you want to accomplish.
-
How long are sessions and how many times should I attend?Once we have agreed on treatment goals, the real work will begin. I recommend that new clients attend weekly sessions for the first 2-3 months so that you can see for yourself that change is possible and new tools can be learned. I also try to schedule clients at the same time on the same day each week. It helps to establish a routine and gives you an hour each week just for you.
-
When do I pay?Payment is expected at the beginning of each session and can be made in the form of cash, check, or credit card, including health-savings account (HSA) cards.
-
What if I have to cancel my appointment?Sage Creek Counseling’s cancellation policy requires 48-hour notification, except in cases of emergency.
